FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is Biblical Counseling?
At Grace Baptist, we believe that all Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness (2 Tim. 3:16). There are times in our lives as believers, when we can use some help finding God's will, understanding God's Word, growing in our faith, dealing with sin, and other spiritual matters. Biblical counseling seeks to bring the Bible's wealth of wisdom to bear upon the difficult results of living in a fallen, broken world that resembles little if anything of what God intended when He created it. Biblical counseling is not a method of diagnosing or treating mental disorders. Here at Grace Baptist, we are happy to work with the mental health professionals in your life and the rest of your support network to the extent that you find it helpful.
How Can Biblical Counseling Help Me?
The Bible speaks of the value of having multiple counsellors or advisors (Prov. 15:22). There is no shame in seeking support in any area of life from others. There are multiple avenues that God uses for support and healing when we suffer. Healthy relationships and knowing God through the Scriptures are necessities for care, change and growth. When it comes to mental health, it is wise, good, and important to seek those who are trained and skilled in this specific work. God has gifted and called certain individuals to advance His kingdom through this effort. Here at Grace Baptist, we can refer you to mental health professionals who share your Christian values and love for the Lord.
Can I speak to a pastor or church leader at Grace Baptist?
Yes. If you fill out the form below, we will be in contact with you as soon as possible. We will pray for you over the phone and depending on the circumstances we will either refer you to a professional setting or schedule a time to meet and discuss your concerns further.
